The existing Water Treatment Plant was built in 1983, with Direct Filtration improvements done in 1994. Since then we treat surface water from Lake Huron. Our treatment process includes the addition of Soda Ash, to deal with pH issues, Alum, to help in the coagulation of dirt particles in the water, then to 4 individual filters which allow our water to provide a very high quality drinking water to the City of St. Ignace and surrounding townships connected to our system. We meet or exceed all requirements by Michigan Department of Natural Resources Environmental section. Consumer Confidence Reports (CCR) will have all the information on our water quality. Our distribution system covers almost the entire City of St. Ignace, with service provided to St. Ignace Township, Evergreen Shores and extends to the Sault Tribe Housing and Casino properties. |
